Welcome to the Middle Tennessee Taekwondo website.

My name is Master George Lloyd III, and I would like to share with you my story.  When I was 13, I was a troubled kid.  My mother was divorced, no father in the picture and I was living with my mother and grandmother.  Not only was I getting into trouble, but I was gaining weight.  Some would say fat, others would say "porky".  My grandmother had an idea.  She told my mother to take me to a Karate School, so the first one in the phone book she picked out, and here we come.  They signed me up.

At 13, I had no clue what to expect.  Remember, this was in the early 80's.  With no father figure at home, the Taekwondo instructor became my surrogate father.  I was shy and not very aggressive.  I did what they said and my mother never let me miss a class.  She told me that if she was paying for it, I was going.  What saved me from getting into trouble was Taekwondo.  I learned discipline, respect, and honor.

Every new rank was a goal.  I always liked those goals.  Some took longer than others, but I became a champion of my weakness.

Do you know what that did for me outside of Taekwondo?  Instead of skipping school, I went.  I did my homework, I stayed away from bullies because I did not want to be one.  I did not want to fight, even though I knew I could.  I contuned school.  I worked my way to a good career.  At one point, I thought about stopping Taekwondo.  The reason I did not is that I know deep down that the way it helped me, it can help thousands of other kids with respect, discipline, confidence and goal setting.

That encouraged me to start Middle Tennessee Taekwondo.  We never give up on any of our students.  We would love to have the opportunity to help your child as well.
